What is Starship?

The Future of Space Exploration

Starship is SpaceX's fully reusable spacecraft and rocket system designed to carry humans and cargo to the Moon, Mars, and beyond.

With its unprecedented capabilities and advanced technology, Starship aims to make interplanetary travel a reality, supporting SpaceX's mission to make life multiplanetary.

Starship is also capable of point-to-point transportation on Earth, allowing people to travel to any location around the world in an hour or less.

First Flight Test April 20, 2023

The Starship's two stages failed to separate successfully, and the launch lasted about four minutes. Despite this, the test gathered valuable data that helped SpaceX improve the separation mechanism and launch procedures.

Second Flight Test November 18, 2023

Stage separation was successful, and the flight lasted about eight minutes. This flight validated the separation of the Starship upper stage and the Super Heavy booster, providing critical data for further improvements.

Third Flight Test March 14, 2024

Made a significant step towards a fast and reliable reusable rocket for the future. This test accomplished several exciting "firsts", including the Starship's first re-entry from space into Earth's atmosphere, the first opening and closing of the Starship payload bay door in space, and a successful demonstration of propellant transfer.

Fourth Flight Test June 6, 2024

The fourth flight will follow a trajectory similar to the previous flight test, with the goal of splashing down in the Indian Ocean. This flight path does not require an orbital burn to re-enter, maximizing public safety while still having the opportunity to achieve our primary objective, which is a controlled Starship re-entry.
